Sahodaya Meeting with RO, CBSE, Bhubaneswar

On 3rd of August 2024 Shri K. Srinivasan, the Regional Officer of the CBSE Bhubaneswar region, graced the meeting organized by Sahodaya School Complex West Bengal Chapter as the Chief Guest. The event took place at Geetanjali Hall in Hotel Fortune drawing participation from almost 90 educators representing over 60 schools from the SSC West Bengal Chapter, SSC Purba Bardhaman, and SSC Bankura.

The event commenced with Ganesh Vandana by the students of DAV Public School, KSTP, and welcome song by the students of Hemsheela Model School Durgapur. Shri Sushil Kumar Sinha, Secretary, SSC WB welcomed Shri K Srinivasan Sir Regional Officer CBSE, Bhubaneswar region and all the other delegates. Ma’am Papiya Mukherjee, the President, SSC WB emphasized the importance of the meeting through her speech.

The participants eagerly anticipated gaining insights from RO Sir’s extensive experience and expertise in the field of education.

Shri K Srinivasan Sir delivered a comprehensive address on the National Curriculum Framework, conceptualizing it within the framework of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. He highlighted the pivotal role of the NEP 2020 in transforming the educational landscape of India, emphasizing its focus on holistic, multidisciplinary education aimed at developing critical thinking and problem-solving skills in students.

The Key points were as follows:-

– *Integration of Competency-Based Education*: He stressed the importance of moving towards competency-based education, where the focus shifts from rote learning to understanding concepts and applying them in real-life situations.

– *Incorporation of Local Contexts*: Shri Srinivasan Sir discussed the significance of integrating local and regional contexts into the curriculum to make learning more relevant and engaging for students.

– *Flexibility and Choice*: Emphasizing the NEP’s advocacy for flexibility in subject choices, he encouraged schools to offer a diverse range of subjects, allowing students to pursue their interests and talents.

In addition to these Shri Srinivasan Sir conducted a session on the recent initiatives and circulars issued by CBSE. He provided updates on various measures being undertaken to enhance the quality of education and support schools in implementing the NEP 2020 effectively.

He highlighted the CBSE’s efforts to promote digital learning through online resources and platforms, ensuring access to quality education for all students.

Shri Srinivasan Sir discussed the importance of continuous professional development for educators and the various capacity-building programs launched by CBSE to equip our teachers with the necessary skills and knowledge.

He elaborated on the ongoing assessment reforms aimed at making evaluations more comprehensive and reflective of students’ overall development.

Concluding his address, Shri Srinivasan Sir delivered an inspiring motivational speech, urging educators to embrace change and innovation in their teaching methodologies. He emphasized the crucial role teachers play in shaping the future of the nation and encouraged them to remain committed to fostering a nurturing and inclusive learning environment.

At last a question and answer session was conducted, where delegates had the opportunity to interact directly with the Regional Officer. Participants raised pertinent questions and sought clarifications on various aspects of the NEP 2020 and CBSE initiatives. RO sir patiently addressed their queries, providing valuable insights and guidance.

Sir’s visit to the Sahodaya School Complex West Bengal Chapter was highly informative and enriching for all attendees. His insights on the National Curriculum Framework in the light of NEP 2020 and updates on CBSE initiatives provided educators with a clearer understanding of the path ahead. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Mrs. Sutapa Acharya, Jt. Secretary, SSC WB to Shri Srinivasan Sir and to all the delgates.

The session concluded with National Anthem.
